Background verification is carried out before employment, proportionate to the sensitivity of the role.
What an assessor looks for
Show the checks performed for a sample of recent joiners and the rationale for what each role requires. Contractors and agency staff are expected to be covered too.
Where it usually fails
Employees are screened while contractors with equivalent or greater access are not.
